WIP Pics: 1 Crochet, 1 Knit

I haven't posted a lot of crafty goodness here. I miss crafting so much that I decided to pick up an old project and finish it. It's supposed to be a birthday gift for a friend.  She loves fountain pens and I can't help but want to create a roll-up case for her, similar to my roll-up crochet hook case.

This is going to be a pen case, in roll-up form. For now, I haven't sewn the lining yet.

A close-up of the shell pattern on the case.

I am honestly not fond of using crochet thread because those projects take forever! But they are less bulky so it does make sense to make a case out of it. This weekend, I will wash this and block it too.  After that, I will sew a piece of fabric as a lining for it.  I will also braid or crochet the thing to tie it up.

Another thing I started working on is a brown bonnet.  This time it's knitted. Got a pattern from the book Knit One, Embellish Too.  The pattern is called Twirly Girl Bonnet.   It's basically just a rectangle with some decoration.  Right now, I have just started so it's just like this:

Hopefully I'd be done by next week so I have something to show you.  It's using knit stitch all throughout the length of the main body of the bonnet.  Easy enough for someone who hasn't knitted in ages!

I have some purple yarns from Belgium. (Thanks to Oui for getting me a bag of assorted yarns!) And I might try some simple stitches to show the texture of the yarn instead of learning some very intricate stitch or pattern.

Anyway, just thought of sharing the work in progress (WIP) pictures.  I will post updates again this weekend or in the coming week. Maybe separately next time.
